Oil Sticks vs Oil Pastels
Oil pastels and oil paint sticks may look similar, but their behavior is very different. Oil pastels contain more wax and use non drying oils, so they never fully dry and remain tacky. Water soluble oil sticks contain linseed oil and dry like traditional oil paints. Finished oil pastel work must be protected behind glass, while oil paint stick artwork cures naturally.
