GOLDEN Absorbent Ground for Watercolor Effects on Acrylic Surfaces
GOLDEN Absorbent Ground is a fluid acrylic medium specially formulated to create a highly absorbent, paper-like surface over gessoed substrates. Ideal for watercolor, staining, and layered painting techniques, it offers artists a unique way to replicate the delicate feel of raw canvas or watercolor paper while maintaining the durability of an acrylic film. Once dry, it produces a stable, porous surface that invites wash effects, subtle gradients, and soft-edge blending.
This ground is permanent, lightfast, and flexible, making it suitable for a wide range of mixed media applications. It can be applied to primed canvas, wood panels, or boards using a brush, roller, or squeegee. Two coats are recommended—the first applied full strength, and the second thinned with up to 20% water. Once fully dry, the surface is ready for watercolor, acrylics, or other compatible materials.
