Claybord Multi Media Panel with Renaissance Inspired Ground

Ampersand Museum Series Claybord is a premium multimedia surface crafted from 1/8" FSC-certified Hardbord and finished with a hand-applied kaolin clay ground. This ultra-smooth, sanded surface mimics the absorbency and brilliance of traditional Renaissance clay gesso, making it ideal for a wide range of painting and drawing techniques. The panel holds true color saturation and allows for exceptional detail, correction, and control. It’s protected by Ampersand’s exclusive Archiva-Seal barrier, which prevents wood acids from affecting your artwork and ensures long-lasting, archival quality.

Claybord is one of the most versatile fine art surfaces available, supporting a wide array of media and tools including alcohol inks, acrylics, watercolors, egg tempera, collage, airbrush, graphite, gouache, and more. It excels with both additive and subtractive techniques, allowing you to etch, layer, lift, or correct as needed. Artists can apply materials using anything from traditional brushes and pens to palette knives, sponges, or paper towels. It’s also a great surface for image transfers, printing, and mounting paper or photographs.
